                                                              ”ma che vuoi?”

I hope all is well down in Australia, where the Bloody Beetroots are currently wreaking havoc nightly (check dates on their myspace!). Anyway, they have their first full length album coming out on Dim Mak at the end of the summer, but will be releasing a single on July 27th with the Cool Kids (I know, wtf?) called “Amazing”, which I hope will be as the name suggests. So somehow the two groups met, and Chuck Inglish returned the favor on Vyle‘s new mixtape, “Oh I Think They Like Hoodtronics Vol. 2″, where he produced a beat that samples “WARP 1.9″. You can grab that whole mixtape here, with an outrageous amount of features the likes of Bobmo, Busy P, Tepr, Solid Groove and Sinden, Danger, Mano, Uffie, and Shazam. Check that funky boomer below, and sit tight until the 27th!

sunshine.

Drunk blogging is the best blogging. That being said, I bring you some Tommie Sunshine. Mr. Scribbles’ post on the Enigma remix of Imogen Heap reminded me of this awesome remix by Tommie Sunshine, classmate of my uncle and the DJ for his 20th reunion this year (how awesome is that??). Relaxing and fantastic. Don’t underestimate the subtle awesomeness of this track.

Just having blown up Australia, OH SNAP!! returns with a few new tracks to promote his newer projects. The first is a track I’ve been waiting for since I heard it in a mix about a year ago, a hilarious commentary on all the great big phonies.

OH SNAP!! – You Fakin’

He will be releasing an album probably later in the year, which he ensures will be insane. Also, if you picked up the preview for the Jakwob remix of Snap’s new single, “Plus Size Model”, get ready for the full EP in a month or so with remixes from Jakwob, Treasure Fingers, Skeet Skeet and Gigi Barocco (which will be released on his own forthcoming label, Moneycat!).

a reentry into Wongo’s world

image-4-229607

I’m coming home again!  Here I am sitting in the Ft. Lauderdale airport and the first thing I want to do is make a post, naturally. Got a little Q and A sesh with my favorite Aussie, Wongo, as promised. Not to mention a few unblogged tracks! Read what this guy has got to say. We’re always looking for new insight into the future of the industry and Wongo’s got a couple of thoughts you’ll enjoy.

Squeegie: Hey Wongo, Where are you coming to us from today?

Wongo: I’m at the moment sitting in my kitchen burning cds for tonight with adam bozzetto. Gonna be a massssssive night!!!

S: Cool, cool, pretty jealous.  So how’s the surf today?

W: I live 40M from the beach and I would have NO IDEA how it is. I’m one of those guys that finishes work goes straight to my studio either to stare at a blank screen or write some shit lol.

S: haha, whoops, my bad. Let’s get down to the music.  You make “wig-out” house.  Please explain that genre.  Who else makes wig-out?

W: Ha wig out is just another name for fucked up weird house music. Shit that doesn’t exactly sound right stuff peeps are like “are you sure that’s gonna work on a dance floor”. Haha that sorta shit, I believe that peeps like Hijack, Rene Van Munster, Brabe, Jeff Doubleu, Campbell make this shit. its ALWAYS a challenge to put my own music on at my gigs cause I’m not sure if it always works. makes it more fun.

welcome to melodic dubstep.

I’m a huge fan of the direction many dubstep artists are going these days, with melodic, vocal-heavy remixes.  Here are two such remixes: The first is a superb remix of Imogen Heap, coming from the UK’s Enigma, and the second is a bit more of a thumper with L.A. Boxers‘ remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs‘ “Heads Will Roll”.  Cheers

hold the line pt. 3

Hold the Line is my favorite song on Guns Don’t Kill People, Lazers Do by a long shot (I wanna hear what everyone else’s is in the comments section). To hype and hype and hype as is accustomed to Mad Decent, the boys commissioned remixes by the giga from artists across the globe, all very solid. But none as solid as this. Djedjotronic, of the Boys Noize family, just dropped this on us and I am stunned. He is honestly one of the best producers out there technically, and one of the most exciting live. Grab his new remix, as well as his mix for BN Records, which is filled with exclusives and rare jams.

Douster is, at this point, one of South America’s best exports when it comes to music. One who influenced my love for bouncy beats and hip hop remixes with bombs like “Nosebreak” and his “Let’s Go To Work” remix, he has not stopped working hard. He’s blazing through with new remixes forthcoming for Crystal Fighters (I know, another one!), Sapo, and coming fresh off of a release from the years hottest new label, Sound Pellegrino. His style is becoming more and more techy, jacking, and simple, which to me comes as a bit of refreshment. However, he has released an old project of his (through our good friends over at MUGRE) which should bring you back to the glory days of not being able to stop your head from bobbing.

Douster: “Back to popular demand here’s that lil’ Marc Antoine’s remix, well, kind of a edit of the old one, since i’ve lost the project. sounds kinda crappy but o well”.

Sounds pretty bangin’ to me man, keep it up!

shine from above these land-lovers i’m a chandelier

Two new hip-hop tracks today, both quite good.  The first comes from Theophilus London, a remix of The Very Best featuring Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koeing.  Theophilus professes it to be a “new summa jam”, so that should be fun. Head over to This Charming Blog for more Theophilus.  The next track is the first track that was released from the upcoming mixtape collaboration of Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y.  It’s as good as you would expect, so look out for that mixtape, “How Fly”,  in July.

summertime

I post this oldie because it is the definition of summer in Chicago. Catch Hey Champ at Lolla, if you’re smart.

Deadmau5 happens to be a majestic god

Deadmau5

Whether you like him or not, you gotta give Deadmau5 credit for being a talented DJ and skilled producer.  Sure, his style is not for everyone, but he knows what’s up.  Having seen him live in Chicago a little while back, and knowing that I will be seeing him two more times before the summer is out (Five Days Off in Amsterdam(!) and Lollapalooza), I’d say  I’m pretty lucky.  He, as per usual, is touring around the world all summer long, visiting Oxegen Music Fest in Ireland and other related events all over the place.  Check his page out to see if he’s coming to a city near you!  He puts on a wild set, composed of only music he has had a hand in, or is exclusively his own.  I call him a majestic god, ’cause his songs normally make me extend my arms to the heavens, awaiting his trance-y house drops.  And he rarely disappoints.  The Reward is Cheese still causes rElapses to his show every time I listen.  This little tune hasn’t been blogged so far as I know, and it’s quite the ear-treat.  Yummy.
