Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Mark Pritchard has been a big name in electronic music for a minute now. Most well known for his hip-hop beats and experimental techno, he’s been very sucessful in the ‘purple’ genre of dubstep, getting a release this summer on Hyperdub with comrade Om’mas Keith. If you don’t know what this sound is, then I highly suggest seeking out tunes from people like Joker, Guido, Ginz, Gemmy, and Zomby. 8 bit stabs, old-school samples, and focuses on the melody make it what Rob da Bank calls it, “West Coast Dubstep” (as in Dr. Dre). Be sure to pick up the release in full, but check this sample to get you going.
