Back In A Bit

I am leaving on a jet plane

Hey all.  I’m heading out of the country for a couple of weeks, and posting will be very rare if at all for me.  Don’t worry the other guys will hold it down strongly.  I thought I’d just post a couple songs I’ve been digging lately…party-house as always.  These are in order of how much I’m feeling them right now.

The Squatters – Clown Dance

AC Slater – Rock It Out (Scott Cooper Remix)

Jahcoozi – Watching You (Oliver $ Remix)

B. Rich – Can’t Take What I Got (Original Mix)

That’s all I got for you today.  Keep it real, Imma go enjoy the sun and ocean.  See you in 18 days.  peace.

Here’s a couple of dudes from Potty Mouth Records that have been doing their thing and slowly climbing the electronic circuit this year. Their debut EP was released on Potty Mouth in early 2009 and since they have been commissioned to do a number of fidget-rich remixes, AC Slater included. So what is this DJ/Production duo up to now? Well, they both moved in together and got to work on several projects, specifically with Andy George and Foamo. They’re also resident DJ’s at a number of UK discos and clubs. Though their best tracks aren’t available for free, be sure to check out their remixes of Cosmic Gate and Merka. Also be on the lookout for Foamo’s remix of the Urchins track “Brickabracka,” which has debuted on BBC Radio 1 (peep the original below). For info on booking contact them at: urchins@live.co.uk and be sure to check out some other tracks at myspace.com/urchinsmusic.

Cosmic Gate – Fire Wire (Urchins Remix)

Urchins – Brickabracka (Removed by the artists’ request)

Merka – Back Home (Urchins Got Home at 7am Remix)

And Lastly, I know this remix is relatively old, but I stumbled upon it today and felt it didn’t get the recognition it deserved the first time around. It’s sure to get the club going crazy, especially the women. Vikings somehow managed to make this Ibiza jam rip my face off with electro while still retaining Akon’s sick melody. This song will definitely make its way into Micro Genius’s next mix (Yes, Mac, it will).

Akon – So Damn Beautiful (Viking Remix)

Turn It Way Up

Only a handful of the many blogs out there are both good in quality and consistent. Palmsoutsounds is unquestionably among that handful.  But what do you expect with contributors like AC Slater, Urchins, Chew Fu, and Estaw? The other day they posted some HUGE remixes of Don Diablo and Example’s “Hooligans.” My favorite: A1 Bassline for sure, he destroyed it! I don’t know what has been going on lately, but he seems to just be churning out tracks, each as wobbly and bangin’ as the last. He’s got a lot of his new work up on the Myspace, which you can check out here. He’s off to a great start this year!

Don Diablo and Example – Hooligans (A1 Bassline Remix)

Random bonus, in case you forgot or never got:

A1 Bassline – Girl Thing (Merk Meny Remix)

WoNK it, WoNK it Good

Best news of the day just popped up on my screen.  WoNK, beloved electro-house producer hailing from the UK, happens to be a cute blonde, one of the few in the industry.  Her sound is exactly as her name describes: it’s wonk-y and wobble-y.  Classifying the sound beyond that is difficult and why I love it.  FIrst up, WoNK did a crazy remix of AC Slater’s “Up Against the Wall.”  Perhaps my favorite of hers:

AC Slater – Up Against the Wall Ft. Lismore (WoNK remix)

Next, another remix that’ll knock you upside the head:

Kyle Watson – Jack My Wobble (WoNK mix)

And a bonus track for the new listeners.  This next one has been around for a little while, but it’s just so wonderful…and “krunchie,” not to mention an original:

WoNK – Krunchie

She’s an excellent producer.  Get at her songs here.  Losing a few dollars is worth the support you’re giving these artists.

If you like what you hear, check out Young Nutz, of which WoNK is half, diXXie the other.  It seems that they came together at the beginning of this year to fuse their talents.  They’re doing a great job.  A bunch of their tracks are available via their myspace, but if you’re feeling a little lazy, here ya go.  Not your average song, diverse in its sounds:

Cold Blank – Fidgets Live In Small Houses (Young Nutz remix)

Enjoy.
