yea it’s real hot out here too: Crystal Fighters – In the Summer + Remixes

Outer-space tribal pop outfit Crystal Fighters are giving away their newest single “In the Summer” for the price of an email address. It’s a real beast, splitting the difference between a stadium rock feel and a drive along the coastline. They’ve also been known to commission some amazing remixes in the past, this time hitting us with new beats from Sepalcure and Shortstuff. Stay alert for others by French Fries, Brookes Brothers, Tek One, and Telepathe floating around, and look out for “Star of Love”, the Fighters‘ LP due to drop September 13th.

Douster has officially become Argentina’s greatest export. Sure, people may knock him for having a similar style on all of his tracks but if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Either way, his latest remix of Crystal Fighters proves that he can go outside of his “box” and still kill it. With that in mind, I’ll give you one of his newer remixes of Yolanda Be Cool (thanks to discobelle for the tip) as well as the Crystal Fighters one for good measure. ‘Xtatic Truth’ has been remixed to death but I still think he did more than an admirable job in his remix, agree or disagree?

PS. Yolanda Be Cool’s ‘Afro Nuts EP’ comes out August 8th and with remixes from Edu K and Douster how can you resist. Get it when it’s out.

rebirth

Renaissance Man is currently my vote for best artist of 2009 (tied with L-Vis 1990) and their latest remix is only helping their case. They consistently deliver solid house songs, from Dubbo to Haarlem to What is Guru? they are just killin’ it. Get both of their EPs at Beatport, Aloha/What is Guru EP and the Spraycan EP; they are two of the best EPs of 2009. They just bring an exciting Scandinavian feel to their music and their sets are solid too (i.e. their April 2009 mix).

Back to L-Vis 1990. As I said, he is also in the running for best artist of 2009, in my opinion. The United Groove [12"] was so good and his Fabric mix was awesome too (I even appreiated his “new genre”: dubblestep). With all of this in mind, check out these two remixes of the same song by Crystal Fighters, I love them both, still can’t decide which is better. Feedback?

Douster is, at this point, one of South America’s best exports when it comes to music. One who influenced my love for bouncy beats and hip hop remixes with bombs like “Nosebreak” and his “Let’s Go To Work” remix, he has not stopped working hard. He’s blazing through with new remixes forthcoming for Crystal Fighters (I know, another one!), Sapo, and coming fresh off of a release from the years hottest new label, Sound Pellegrino. His style is becoming more and more techy, jacking, and simple, which to me comes as a bit of refreshment. However, he has released an old project of his (through our good friends over at MUGRE) which should bring you back to the glory days of not being able to stop your head from bobbing.

Douster: “Back to popular demand here’s that lil’ Marc Antoine’s remix, well, kind of a edit of the old one, since i’ve lost the project. sounds kinda crappy but o well”.

Sounds pretty bangin’ to me man, keep it up!
