thirsty need some water boy, Captain insano

Hahahaha very well done young Orpheus, glad to see you doing your thang.

Like my man said the hot spitta is at it again. I didn’t think it was possible but Curren$y keeps churning out these beastly mixtapes that I find myself playing constantly on repeat. His new mixtape, Smokee Robinson, is one of my favorite mixtapes of his to date, and he’s got a lot. With features like Wiz Khalifa, Chip Tha Ripper, and motherfucking Dom Kennedy, and with Don Cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon cannon mixing it everything is right in the world. Now go have your girl roll you a blunt and listen to this beautiful mixtape.

nope, it’s not trance

Alright, I meant to throw this up a while back when I first heard it off of Noiseporn, big ups to guys over there.   When I first heard this it made me think of Blau rather intensely.  With a slightly cheesy trancey buildup, one’s initial reaction might be to be unimpressed.  But then you just hang in there and get hit in the face with a wooden board.  Mr. Tubbs has broken out of his fidget/electro wobblliness, and gone with a dub-influenced, bass heavy drop instead.

Bonus:

Curren$y and Dom Kennedy are two of my favorite artists in the hip-hop area.  I know Hip-hop isn’t my usual post type (fact checka…), but I’m digging this.  But I know of both of these men because of EDLine, so big ups to that gentleman.  This mix tape, Smokee Robinson, is very good.  Picked it up a few days ago, but it appears Z-strange beat me to the tip.  Perhaps EDLine will offer more insight into that one in the coming days.  Sit tight on this for now, and don’t  judge till the end!

Two Squeegie favorites, dubstep music and the sounds of  rapper Curren$y, finally meet today, in Atlanta dubstepper DJ Hipnotikk‘s remix of the fly spitta’s “Where Da Cash At”.  Hot stuff- not sure if I overrate it when I hear it just because I’ve been hoping for a Curren$y dubstep remix, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

shine from above these land-lovers i’m a chandelier

Two new hip-hop tracks today, both quite good.  The first comes from Theophilus London, a remix of The Very Best featuring Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koeing.  Theophilus professes it to be a “new summa jam”, so that should be fun. Head over to This Charming Blog for more Theophilus.  The next track is the first track that was released from the upcoming mixtape collaboration of Wiz Khalifa and Curren$y.  It’s as good as you would expect, so look out for that mixtape, “How Fly”,  in July.

Wale‘s new “mixtape” is just as good as an album and some. The whole thing is mixed by Fool’s Gold partner Nick Catchdubs, full of beats from 9th Wonder, Mikey Mike, and Valerie head Mark Ronson (who basically discovered Wale). It also has some of the most impressive features I’ve ever seen on a mixtape, with bars from Kenn Starr, Kweli, Big Sean, Spitta, Beanie Sigel, Young Chris, da 5’9′‘, K’naan and many others.

New Orlean’s own Fly Spitta, Currency has just released his debut album, This Ain’t No Mixtape. It truly is a great piece of work. I recommend you all get it. In honor of his new release, I have decided to look back at the towering amount of mixtapes Currency has created and share with you my favorites. Enjoy.

Hot Spitta.

A couple more rap tracks here, this time from Fly Society‘s own Curren$y (Da’ Hot Spitta).  The first has a beat that will take you back to your childhood, because its a remix of the invincibility star song from the Mario games.  Very clubby beat.  It also features a reference to Fly Society rapper and professional skateboarder Terry Kennedy, commonly known as T.K.  The second has a beat that’s just straight boss.  Tight songs.
