free gucci!

Hello one and all. I would like to begin this post by apologizing for the ridiculous delays between posts lately. I’ve just begun the whole frat thing at college and shit is time consuming. With that taken care of, let’s get down to music.

Squeegie favorite Gucci Mane has enjoyed the support of many in the musical industry, especially in blogging circles and the like. One of his biggest fans happens to be an artist known for taking on great projects and sometimes bringing more popular music to the blogging masses: Diplo. With this in mind, Diplo decided to collaborate with a ton of your favorite producers and make a Gucci Mane only mixtape and goddamn it’s hot. Featuring tracks from: Diplo, Bird Peterson, Brodinski, Douster, Flying Lotus, Mumdance, DZ, and my main main Willy Joy. Needless to say, Un. Fucking. Real.

I’ll give you guys a few tracks but you neeeeed to get the whole mixtape, it’s too good. To make it better, it’s free (my favorite number). Get the mixtape here.

Gucci Mane – I Be Everywhere (DZ Remix)

i haven’t played chinese checkers in so long

(Nice shirt)

As a followup to our recent interview with DZ I figured I’d bring you one of the several tracks the big man just threw up for free download on his website. ‘Chinese Checkers’ is just some grimey dub with a cool sample, nothing to complain about. Thanks DZ for still kicking ass. Check his site for more free 320 goodies.

DZ interview

DZ dubstep

Hey Squeegie readers, what’s going on.  Caught up with Sean “DZ” Harten with a few questions on what’s been going on with his production these days and what’s in store for his label and him in the coming months.  Had some pretty interesting stuff to say, and he threw in a lovely new exclusive you won’t find anywhere else, it’s a dirty one ;).  Interview and track after the jump, enjoy!

time to get hyped

l_12a09cba679041b886b2aa6e6e1c3b3dYou might remember I mentioned something of an interview with a personal favorite producer, DZ.  While he’s working on the answers, he decided to send some exclusives over for blogging. I don’t mean these songs aren’t available anywhere but here, but they were given with the idea of exclusiveness.  So listen to these and get excited.  DZ is taking a more house oriented direction with his songs, wobble-house, as he calls it.  High Deaf is a duo consisting of DZ and DnB star Threesixty, and I love them.  Check them out, and look out for that interview.

bouncy jazz is the tits

nadastrom save us

Okay a growing trend that I am enjoying immensely is the tendency to weave jazzy elements into solid electro dance tracks.  ”Love You Madly” by Herve ,under his other alias, The Young Lovers, is awesome.  The stuff Gramophonedzie has put out is pretty damn sweet too.  And of course Hijack is all over that sound too (check out Trouser Jazz).  But this was a surprising release that I wanted to post a while back and it popped up on iPod today and voila.  Nadastrom kills it in this electro-b-more-jazz fusion bit of excellence. You better be interested in a fusion of that sort.

Nadastrom – Save us (Original Mix) (128)

Okay and I know every blog and their mother has posted this song, and long ago, but in case you missed it or wanna be reminded:

The Young Lovers – Love You Madly

Jayforce

I hope you’re ready for something really funky and bouncy now.  Paul Anthony and ZXX gave this track a good little remix, but I gotta say I’m rather in love with this little tune right here.  Jayforce killed it here, “Smashbox” is a biggy.  Reminds me of those fun high-pitched sirens from Diplo’s get up remix with a tasty crunchy little bassline to compliment them.  Just very danceable.

Jayforce – Smash Box (Original Mix) (128)

badman DZAnd I had to throw something disgusting up here today, as it is Sunday.  You can try and make the correlation there.  DZ never fails me.  This isn’t exactly a new track, but I’ve been feeling it lately.  Also wanna build a little hype, as there may be a little interview and some exclusives coming up!  Stay tuned, and in the meantime, get up to this.

DZ – Get Up

We here at Squeegie are a kind of hunter-gatherers, constantly on the look out for the best new tracks. Orpheus showed us all the rip of DZ‘s ‘Businessman’ remix, and I wanted to build up the hype a bit before giving you the exclusive 320. The Crookers album was destined for release in October, but we’ll have to wait a bit more for that due to delays (I’m also looking at you Clipse and Kid Sis). Look out for “Put Your Hands on Me” to be the first single, with remixes from Solo & Jesse Rose.

Crookers – Businessman (feat. Wiley & Thomas Jules)(DZ Remix) 320 Squeegie First

In news related to Wiley, he’s just had the treatment done on one of his tracks by club producer Bravado. Solid dubstep stomper in my opinion, locked down to the verses.

sweet baby jesus

Christmas came early this year.  I’ve never tried so hard to find a song until this one…and sadly I have still not procured a 320, or even a proper version.  At least I’m confident you won’t find this on any other blogs.  But this 256, crappy radio rip will tide you over.  DZ is too huge and this song is a testament to that.  I suggest listening in the bathroom, ’cause your gonna wanna take a bath immediately to get the filth off of you.  I have never heard anything like the sounds at around 2:30 in.  Annoyingly enough, dubplate records put this out with a guy talking at various points in the track.  But the proper track will be released on Southern Fried records before 2009 is out.

evil has two definitions

6a00d8341daf7453ef00e54f4280d58834-800wi

Definition one (Courtesy of wikipedia): Evil, in many cultures, is a broad term used to describe what are seen as subjectively harmful deeds that are labeled as such to steer moral support.

Definition two: a word you would casually drop to describe these songs.  Ex. Evil dubstep.  Enjoy.  Particularly feeling Reso.

Reso – If Ya Cant Beat Em

Bar 9 – Murda Sound

Borgore – Sunday Morning

me get it by de pound

When I spotted Chrome Kids‘ feature on The Widdler, there was one track that caught my eye: a remix of the 2006 track “Come Around”, by Collie Budz (pictured above).  Now, Collie Buddz isn’t exactly my cup of tea (he’s sort of a less known Sean Paul with a little more reggae to him and a lot more herb.  And his real name? Colin Parker), but for some reason this track gets stuck in my head, and makes for fabulous dubstep remixes.  Of course, it kind of makes sense, considering reggae, dubstep and — to quote Mr.Buddz, — “the sweet, sweet sensi” are pretty closely intertwined.  Enjoy the Widdler’s remix, and I’ve included another dubstep take on the tune, coming from Squeegie favorite DZ.  Dank.
