youngin: Introducing Miltz Mortez

Sorry about the lack of posts lately, I was at Bonnaroo over the weekend and have somehow been tired ever since. Milt Mortez, a 20-year old producer based out of Windsor, Canada, describes much of his music as tribal house. Having recently released his track ‘Pluto’ on Neoteric‘s latest compilation (it is the best track on the comp, a must-buy) he is surely on the up-and-up. Older tracks of his effectively use group chants, bleepy synths, and congo drums to deadly perfection. With support from French Fries, Sinden, and others, keep his name in the back of your mind for the future.

Save the intros. You know this is an instant purchase when it drops exactly one week from today. Stream “I.R.L.”, “Temple Keys”, and Scratcha‘s remix exclusively over at xlr8r.

let’s go back in time

Mr. French Fries has certainly taken the whole “music” thing to a whole new level these past few months, getting out an EP as well as some slick remixes for Bart B More and We Have Band. Usually, his tunes are percussion driven tribal rollers, but this spin on Pony Pony Run Run‘s “Walking On A Line” showcases a completely different style. All fat square basslines and jumpy drums here, settling on closer to the regions of gutter house a la Night Slugs. Accordingly, you can hear this in the sets of Bok Bok and Oneman, so take a listen and see if it won’t fit well in yours!

beat the beat up

French duo Beataucue may be a one-trick pony, but they wield a wand most producers can only dream of having. Today was a big day for the group, as two new remixes finally dropped digitally after relentless exclusive play by top DJ’s. Check their top ten for the month at RA here and be sure to pick up the recent remix of French Fries they did. Actually, the whole EP is pretty nuts.

French Fries is a French producer who makes some awesome music. He’s got a few EPs coming out soon and previews of his tracks are up on his myspace (check em out asap). Until those are released we’ve got a few of his tunes to hold you over. Each has a totally different vibe and I like each one, don’t forget about this guy, he’ll be around Squeegie for a while.
